Ecstatic Dance

This dance is a letting go of self-imposed ideas that restrict movement and open to new ways to move. It developes a direct body-spirit connection in dance. Let your body be your guide and teacher. This is about being present with your own energy and is discovering your own dance within. No dance experience or partner necessary.

This is free-form, not structured dance. We have a few exercises as an invitation to try different types of movement. This is not a social dance. It is an environment without observers or chit chat, where dancers can feel safe to try new things and really push the envelope. This is an invitation to explore different motions, rhythms and patterns of movement.

Leave the seriousness of the world behind. Dance in the spirit of play to world grooves. Wear loose fitting dance, yoga or gym clothes. It is barefoot or soft dance sandals/shoes only. Bring water.

YOGA BOOK CLUB

The second of hopefully many meetings to discuss experiences, inquiries, and interests of yoga.  This is a free event and open to anyone.  You are welcome to join at any time: no background in yoga studies is required. We will meet for an hour or so to share our views of the current book, eat snacks, and relate any other questions or discoveries related to yoga.

Sunday, June 28th, at 6:30 pm
Facilitated by Sarah Strong

Current Book: The Bhagavad Gita (Any Translation)

The Gita

The Bhagavad Gita (Sanskrit for “Song of the Lord”) is the most famous poem in all Hindu literature and part of the Mahabharata, the great Indian epic.  The Gita consists of a dialogue between Lord Krishna and Prince Arjuna on the morning of a climactic battle.  Krishna provides Prince Arjuna with the spiritual means to take action under trying circumstances. Of course, the larger canvas painted in the poetry is that of the moral universe of Hinduism.

“The Gita does not present a system of philosophy.  It offers something to every seeker after God, of whatever temperament, by whatever path.  The reason for this universal appeal is that it is basically practical: it is a handbook for Self-realization and a guide to action” --Eknath Easwaran
